Pallet Blocks

The pallet material of choice over the past 70 years has been wood. Over the years the wooden pallet is challenged by the plastic one. These plastic pallets were developed in the early '70's, primarily for the food handling usage, where sanitation is a critical issue. Pallets made from other materials are important for the market, which responds to trends like standardization, improved retrieval operations, more reusable pallets, and pest regulations.

The market for pallets is still growing. An evolution from wood to hybrid structures to plastic pallets is expected to take place over the next 10 years. This is mainly driven by the large pallet pool owners who understand the operational costs of reusable pallets. More and more improved wood quality, metals and plastics are used in the component supply of pallets in order to make them more durable at lower operational costs. Key components in a pallet are the supporting blocks that are normally made out of wood or compressed wood. Although plastic blocks have become standard already for some specific heavy duty pallets in the marketplace, market penetration has been limited so far.

The new blocks produced by VanMarenSystems outperform and overcome most limitations of existing blocks. The design of the blocks is geared towards the lightest weight and shortest production time resulting in the lowest energy consumption and production costs possible in the marketplace. This in combination with the low cost of the recycled material and the guaranteed residual value enable a eco friendly product at a very competitive price.
